Under the expert guidance of Dr. Courtney Cates, our team focuses on providing compassionate and personalized care for each patient. With years of experience and specialized training, we’re passionate about guiding patients toward clearer vision and greater success in their daily lives.
Dr. Courtney Cates, originally from Amarillo, Texas, brings extensive expertise and passion to Dallas Vision Therapy. She received her Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University before earning her Doctor of Optometry degree with academic honors from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry in 2017. Recognized for her dedication to vision therapy, Dr. Cates received the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) Award of Excellence, a prestigious honor awarded to only one student.
After earning her doctorate, Dr. Cates completed an advanced residency in Neuro-Vision Rehabilitation, Pediatrics, and Vision Therapy at Neuro-Vision Associates of North Texas in Plano. This additional year of training equipped her with the skills to manage complex cases, including eye teaming and tracking disorders, vision-related learning difficulties, and acquired brain injuries. Dr. Cates has extensive experience in pediatric and adult eye care, sports vision, and special needs vision therapy, with a specialized focus on children.
Dr. Cates is a dedicated member of the American Optometric Association/Texas Optometric Association, the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD), and the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association (NORA). Her commitment to developmental eye care, along with her therapeutic and glaucoma certification in Texas, underscores her dedication to the field of optometry.
When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Cates enjoys cooking, traveling, cheering on Aggie football, and spending time with her family. Her personal interests reflect her dedication to building strong connections and supporting the health and well-being of those around her.
